World cup quarter finals, day 2

Two massive matches, four teams, filled with potential, but on this day, only two are going through, and two are sent home packing. We now know the second semi-final of this unpredictable world cup, it's Germany vs Spain.

Yes, I'm right, germany, they showed an extremely amazing performance against argentina, and they embarrassed them by a 4-0 win, yes, again, I'm right, 4-0. The first goal came from a perfectly placed cross by Bastian Schweinsteiger which met the head of Muller, the Goalkeeper had absolutely no chance of saving it, although it scratched his right leg as it was rolling in. The second goal came when Podolski made his way through the defense and passes the ball perfectly to klose, and just to make sure, he drags it in just to add insult to injury. The third came when Fredrich received a cross and heads it in bravely to score his first international goal and end argentina's hopes of a place in the world cup final. But that wasn't it, Klose struck again when he received a perfectly placed cross and he puts it in cooly to give Argentina an embarrassing scoreline to go home with.

The second quarter final went extremely boring, the main talking points were the two penalties given in quick succession, Cardozo's penalty was saved by Casillas and then, just a minute later, Alonso got his penalty saved when DavidVilla clearly dove , but the referee didn't see that, Spain go their breakthrough when Iniesta went through the defense and passed it on to Xavi who missed, but guess who was there for the rebound, yes, you're right, it was david villa, he struck the ball, and guess what, it hit the post before rolling in, BARELY! 3 minutes were added on, but the referee somehow gave 4 and when the final whistle was blown, Spain were on their way to their first semi final in their world cup history....

That's all from me today, see you as soon as i hear any new news if not, I'll be here on tuesday to give you a full update on the first semi final of this world cup, holland vs uraguay, but for now, this is Mohammed Mashnouk saying good night...

World Cup Quarter finals, day 1

Well, it has been a very long time since holland have felt world cup glory, they had to get there by defeating Brazil, it wasn't something easy to do, but the oranje army did the impossible and surprized Brazil by beating them 2-1. It was a very exciting match for both teams with Brazil taking the lead through a nicely placed pass by Melo which was perfectly picked up by Robinho and was very easily placed through steklenburg, but the dutch never gave up, although Brazil went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead. The flying dutchmen struck back when Robben was fouled . The free kick was taken when the samba players least expected it, robben went in on the right and passed it to Snjieder who joined him on the right hand side, he then diverted a meant to be cross onto the head of Melo, that was a moment of revival for the dutch and then snjieder stuck again when he headed it in past julio ceaser and took netherlands into the lead, towards the final minutes, substitute Klas Jaan Huntelaar broke free and just had to simply pass it to either robben or kuyt who were both onside, that would've finished the game off but he took his time and ruined the last chance of the match except when Dani Alves stuck his free kick straight into the wall, the final score was 2-1 and the dutch go on to the semi finals to face Uraguay who defeated Ghana in a game which seemed to be going the africans way, Suli Muntari took the lead from a well struck left footed goal from 38 yards, but only to have forlan take it back via a very well placed free kick, the game stayed 1-1 until the 130th minute where the africans had their chance to win the game when they were given a penalty after Suarez saved the ball of the line clearly using both hands, but the black stars were denied world cup glory and the game went to penalties, Mensah missed his poorly struck penalty just to have Ghana's next one missed as well, it was all down to the left footed Uraguain calmly netted the ball to set up the first semi final, Netherlands vs Uraguay. See you tomorrow for what seems to be a very exciting match between Germany and Argentina and Spain vs Paraguay, I'll be here tomorrow to update you on all those matches, but for now, this is Mohammed Mashnouk saying Good night...
